The quintessential Southern California mall has in recent times evolved to chic, elevated experiences where fashion, food and fitness collide. And it's here at Platform LA that one of Marle's newest stockists, Teller, has opened its doors.
We chat to Co-Founder Jaime Fishbein about the opening of Teller, what she loves most about Marle and where she's wearing her most favoured piece.
What was the inspiration behind Teller?
LA is home to some of the coolest, most creative women on the planet. We are endlessly inspired by the personal style of women in our town and wanted to create a space where they can come and discover special pieces. We’re rooted in LA but have a global wandering eye and love to find independent brands – like Marle – and share them with our community.
Can you tell us a little bit more about Platform? Why did you choose this spot for Teller?
Platform is a walkable collection of singular merchants, eateries and creative businesses spread across a city block in the Culver City neighbourhood of Los Angeles.
Platform shares a similar ethos to Teller: lift up independent designers, facilitate discovery and create community. It’s also home to our brother store and men’s shop The Optimist, so when the opportunity came to open Teller right next door to The Optimist – it was the perfect fit.
What kind of brands do you stock at Teller and why is Marle a great fit?
At Teller, brands like GANNI from Copenhagen, Closed from Hamburg and Ami from Paris are nestled alongside brands like Sea out of New York, Esse Studios from Sydney and V. Chapman from here in LA. We love connecting our customers to Marle’s roots in New Zealand and they love the brand’s laid back elegance which is perfect for LA.
What is your most favoured piece from Marle and how are you wearing it?
The Rita Dress in Camel is my favorite piece to wear all day; it’s casual but sophisticated no matter the setting! From a morning stroll to our local Larchmont Farmers Market, to dinner and drinks al fresco with friends, then packed in a bag for a weekend getaway to Ojai.
If a customer asked about Marle, how would you describe the brand?
Timeless, effortlessly elegant, well-crafted, an exercise in texture and tone – perfect for laid-back LA living
