What does balance for better mean to you?

Balance for better is all about women and men having equal opportunity in our world, I find it incredible frustrating that there is still a gender debate in 2019.  For me personally it is also about women having the opportunity to fulfil their career dream alongside family life commitments but not burning out in the process.  With the exception of my husband, Justin we have an all female team at Marle. Its important to us, as a company, to create an environment that allows women to work in a job they love while valuing their out of work commitments.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My days are so varied, we have two young children so we start each day with lots of cuddles before a mad rush to get everyone out the of the house on time. Once I get to work I go through my emails and prioritise what needs to be done, I live with a to do list beside me and love ticking things off.  Each day I’m pulled in lots of different directions which I love, it’s always interesting, challenging and inspiring.  After work I come home and play with the kids and get their dinner sorted, our daughter, Vita is very interested in cooking at the moment so she usually helps prepare their meal. After dinner and once the kids are asleep we either carry on working or unwind with a spa or a bit of Netflix.

What are your go-to rituals that make you feel empowered each day?

My skincare routine is something that I love doing each day and helps me feel like I am taking time and care for myself. Seeing the sea helps me feel grounded and is a great way to keep things in perspective, I don’t make it down to the beach every day but I always ensure I at least see the water. Twice a week we do pilates as a team at Reform, which is the best studio and happens to be right next door to our office, this helps empower our team which in turn empowers me.

Fashion is often used as a female form of expression. What is the Marle garment that makes you feel most confident, and why?

To be honest, all my Marle garments make me feel confident, they suit my lifestyle but also make me feel feminine and elegant each day.  My most treasured piece for the cooler months is my Jo Jumper, perfectly oversized, it always look immaculate no matter how often its worn and the lightness along with the warmth is incredible.  In summer I love all of my silk pieces for how they feel against the skin.

What is appealing to you about Marle's considered approach to fashion production?

Marle is an extension of myself, I have always adored wearing natural fabrics and yarns so it has been a dream to make it my business.  Also improving along the way on how we do things to help reduce our impact on our precious environment is very important to me, this is for all aspects of the business all the way down to using recyclable and biodegradable packaging and also using more fabric mills that use organic fabrics and plant based dyes and washing techniques.
